WATCH: Deja Vu! Dhoni to Dinesh Bana – Indian WK wins World Cup with a SIX again

Dinesh Bana’s has been India’s X-factor through the 2022 U19 World Cup and in the final that was going down to the wire, he displayed incredible calm to pull off back-to-back sixes and win India their fifth U19 title.

His performance and composure in the middle was reminiscent of none other than MS Dhoni, whose memorable 2011 World Cup winning moment is etched into everyone’s memory.

We saw a re-creation of that in Antigua on February 5 as Dinesh Bana, also a wicket-keeper, hit a six over long-on to win India the world title.

India were favourites to win the final against England and did so with aplomb after a scintillating bowling performance led by Ravi Kumar, who picked a four-wicket haul, and Raj Bawa, whose 5/31 is the best-ever haul by any player in an U19 World Cup final.

Thought James Rew rescued England and gave them a fighting chance, India had restricted them to a below par total. After a few early jitters, India seemed to be well on their way until they lost 4 wickets for 97 and Nishant Sindhu and Raj Bawa joined hands.

Led by the duo, they got closer to the target but Bawa was dismissed late in the game which saw Dinesh Bana’s entry. Calm as ever, he sealed the game for India with another of his brilliant cameos.

Dinesh Bana is a ridiculous six-hitter who has made a name in the tournament so far. Off his last eight balls in the U19 World Cup, Dinesh Bana smashed 4 sixes. Two against Australia in the semi-final and another couple here in the final against England.

Nishant Sindhu, who finished unbeaten with a half-century, had a ridiculously good tournament where he had to take on the captaincy unexpectedly, remained India’s most economical bowler and then sealed India the title with a match-winning fifty in the final.
