Pat Cummins showed off his skilful nature in a piece of absolute brilliance against Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan. Bowling to the attacking right-hand batter, the Australian skipper trapped him in front of the stumps and got an LBW call in his favour.
It was a top delivery that tailed in late at pace into the right-hander and seemingly pinned his front toe before the three sticks. The bowler and the rest of the fielding unit went up in appeal straightaway and duly got the finger raised from the umpire.
From the real-time action, it looked absolute plumb and a straightforward decision from umpire Aleem Dar for Pat Cummins and his men. However, the replay seen not too long from there revealed that the ball had brushed Rizwan’s front pad just outside the line. But by then, the batter had decided not to go for the DRS.

Mohammad Rizwan decided not to review an incorrect LBW call off Pat Cummins.
Rizwan did have a brief discussion with his batting partner and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam but he was seemingly told to continue walking as the LBW call looked pretty straightforward at that stage. Soon, however, Rizwan would’ve been left ruing the fact that he listened to Babar, with a hawkeye replay confirming that the ball had hit his pad outside the line of the off-stump.
But Pat Cummins & his team were hardly complaining as they got the big fish out without him opening his account in their quest to build further inroads into the Pakistan innings on Day 5 of the series-deciding Test. Rizwan’s decision to walk out reduced the hosts to 167/5, with another 184 runs to win.

This is not the first instance of a batter either getting timed out on the DRS or assessing a dismissal wrongly. But Rizwan’s could well prove to be the costliest of them all, leaving Australia only five wickets away from a historic series win on Pakistan shores.
For Cummins, this was just reward for some persistent bowling on a dry surface in Lahore where he had ran in for nearly 14 relentless overs with only one wicket to show for his effort. The skipper had also delivered a critical spell of 5 for 56 in the first half.
