Pakistan’s young fast-bowling sensation Naseem Shah delivered a peach of a ball past the defence of Australian allrounder Cameron Green on Day 2 of the series-deciding Test match in Lahore on Tuesday (March 22).

It was a ball no less than a proper thunderbolt as it thumped onto the stumps after evading the batter’s downswing on an attempted defensive stroke.

Till then, Green had batted with great composure and resolve at the crease. But the right-hander still had no answer to the pace and movement that Naseem Shah extracted for this ball.

Making his comeback after skipping the second Test in Karachi, the 19-year-old pacer unleashed his wrath on Green and send him back to the pavillion with an absolute beauty.

Naseem Shah sends Cameron Green back with a superb delivery

The wicket ball arrived on the fifth delivery of the 125th over in the Australian first-innings with Green well set at the crease after a fighting 79 off 162 balls. On the 163rd ball of his stay, however, Green came across a ball from Naseem Shah that proved too good for his solid defence.

Delivered from wider of the crease from the over-the-wicket angle, the ball pitched in the good length area and jagged back in sharply into the right-hander and smashed the stumps.

Naseem had been the pick of the Pakistani quicks till that point, sending nearly 27 overs for just 47 runs with two scalps to his name. The pacer added Green’s critical wicket to his tally and helped Pakistan make further inroads into the Australian lower middle-order.

Ever since his Test debut back in November 2019, Naseem Shah has been raved over the Pakistan circuit as the country’s future fast-bowling spearhead. Marrying his pace with the ability to swing and seam the ball late, the youngster has taken 21 Test wickets in his career so far.

He has burst onto the scene after encouraging performances at the first-class level, taking 71 wickets from 23 games at an average of 27.29.
