Imam Ul Haq faced the perks of fielding at short-leg as he funnily went down with a blow off the bat of Marnus Labuschagne on Day 3 of the first Pakistan-Australia Test match in Rawalpindi this Sunday (March 7).
The incident came to light during the Australian first-innings when young seamer Naseem Shah was bowling to Labuschagne. A short-pitched delivery from Naseem got into the radar for the Aussie batter, who pulled it with brute force to try and find the boundary.
As it happened, however, despite his best effort to save his head by taking an evasive action, Imam received the thumping stroke on the back of his right shoulder. While he managed to escape a blow to his helmet, the ball still did enough damage as Imam went down holding his shoulder.

Imam Ul Haq received a blow to his shoulder while fielding at short-leg.
The blow came to light on the second ball of the 46th over in the Australian first-innings. Still new to the crease, Labuschagne pulled the short ball from Naseem to the short-leg where Imam Ul Haq was seen going down in pain after receiving the blow to his shoulder.
It was a blow that seems to have triggered smiles among the rest of the Pakistan fielding unit and even the commentary box, where Rob Key was heard laughing as Imam went down and recovered.
In a clip posted over Twitter by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was seen hugging and consoling his player initially, before he erupted in laughter and gave a wrap on Imam’s helmet.

The Rawalpindi Test has been a special one on the personal front for Imam Ul Haq, as he recorded his maiden Test century in the first-innings.
The elegant left-hander produced a marathon knock of 157 runs off 358 deliveries, including 16 fours and 2 sixes. Imam’s wonderful innings, alongside former skipper Azhar Ali’s brilliant 185, helped Pakistan post a daunting score of 476/4 dec.
