Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) roped in fast bowler Umesh Yadav for INR 2 crores in the Indian Premier League (2022) mega auction. In the last two editions of the IPL, the pacer played only two games and didn’t have much to do. In the 2020 edition of the tournament, he took part in two matches and couldn’t pick up a wicket. Most importantly, he bowled at an expensive economy rate of 11.85.

In 2021, the Delhi Capitals (DC) bought him for INR 1 crore and didn’t give him a chance to play even in a single game. However, the Knights decided to include Yadav in their IPL 2022 opening game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday, March 27 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Yadav didn’t make a great start as he began with no-ball, leading to a free hit.
But in the third ball of the first over, he made amends after getting rid of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who won the Orange Cap in the previous edition of the IPL. Gaikwad was also in red-hit form for the reason that he was the leading run-scorer in the 2021-22 Vijay Hazare Trophy.
But this time around, he failed to open his account. Umesh found Gaikwad’s outside edge and Nitish Rana took a simple catch in the slip cordon. Rana, Yadav and the other Knights’ players were cock-a-hoop after the Super Kings lost their first wicket in the very first over of the game.
In the meantime, former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden made a hilarious comment on Yadav. The veteran, who played for the Super Kings during his heydays, put out his words while being on air.
“Someone else’s trash has become KKR’s treasure,” Hayden said. After Hayden’s comments, the netizens on Twitter dropped in their opinions.

I think that remark was for the bad shot selection of Gaikwad.

Did the commentator just say someone else’s trash is KKR’s treasure with regards to Umesh Yadav?

In his second over, Robin Uthappa, who once used to play for the Knight Riders, smashed Yadav for a six. But Yadav came back by dismissing Devon Conway, who made his IPL debut for the Yellow Army. In his first three overs, Yadav gave 12 runs and got two wickets.
