The controversial case of Wriddhiman Saha receiving a threat from a journalist upon being denied interview has taken a surprising turn.
Even as the BCCI top brass look set to launch an investigation into the matter and grab this “Respected” journalist by the scruff of the neck, the experienced wicketkeeper has planned not to disclose his name.
While the Indian board is hoping to get to the core of the matter and find out if there is a nexus in play here that makes players’ life difficult, Saha has opted for an interesting take on the issue and doesn’t want to “harm somebody’s career”.

Wriddhiman Saha faced threat from a journalist upon denying request for an interview.
Speaking to the Indian Express, Wriddhiman Saha confirmed there hasn’t been any official communication with him by the BCCI so far. But aware that the board may act strongly over the matter in the coming days, the 37-year-old says he will not be disclosing this individual’s name as it could jeopardise his/her entire career.
“I haven’t received any communication from the BCCI yet. If they ask me to reveal the name (of the journalist), I would tell them it was never my intention to harm somebody’s career, to pull a person down. That’s why I didn’t reveal the name in my tweet,” Saha said.
“That’s not the teaching of my parents. The main purpose of my tweet was to expose the fact that there’s someone in the media who does such things, disrespecting a player’s wish.”
“It wasn’t fair, which I wanted to tell through my tweets. He who has done it knows it very well. I posted those tweets because I didn’t want the players to face such things. I wanted to convey the message that what has been done was wrong and no one else should do it again,” he added.
Wriddhiman Saha revealed getting messages of threat from a journalist on Saturday (February 19), the very day he was dropped from the Test squad picked for the series against Sri Lanka.

While his sacking was set in stone in January when head coach Rahul Dravid told Saha that the think-tank is planning to move on to younger options, chief selector Chetan Sharma put a stamp of approval on it.
In between, Saha had opted out of the Ranji Trophy season for Bengal for personal reasons and given interviews to multiple media houses, disclosing the details of his conversations with Dravid in South Africa and later on phone with Sharma, who, as per him, said: “from now on, you will not be considered”.
