Former India batter Vinod Kambli was on Sunday (February 27) arrested following a car accident in Bandra, reported Press Trust of India.
Kambli was found to have smashed his car on the gate of a Bandra society after drunk driving and losing control of his vehicle.
A complaint was filed against the ex left-hander by a resident of the society where the accident took place.
Soon, the 50-year-old was taken into custody and examined at the Bandra Police Station after being charged under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section r.w. 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act.

Vinod Kambli was arrested after a car accident influenced by alchohol intake.
Since the law directly relates to cases of driving under the alcohol influence, Vinod Kambli went under extensive custody of the Bandra Police.
During the custody, PTI reported, it also came to light that Kambli indulged in a lengthy argument and ugly altercation with the society’s watchman. The former cricketer was, however, released on bail thereafter.
“Mr Kambli has been charged under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 279 (rash driving), 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) and 427 (mischief causing damage),” a Bandra Police Station official was quoted as saying by PTI.
A colourful character by nature, this is not the first time Vinod Kambli has found himself in the midst of a controversy, with the cricketer involved in various other contentious issues back in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Kambli, considered one of India’s brightest young talents back in the 90s along with fellow Mumbaikar and legend Sachin Tendulkar, played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India. He scored 1,084 Test runs at an average of 54.20 and 2,477 ODI runs at 32.59 per innings.
