Robin Uthappa survived a caught dismissal after a no-ball was spotted off the bowling of Mohammed Siraj in CSK-RCB IPL 2022 game.
A rampaging Robin Uthappa was given an uncalled for reprieve by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after their pacer Mohammed Siraj erred with a no-ball on a catch taken by Suyash Prabhudessai in IPL 2022 on Tuesday (April 12).
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opening batter survived a straightforward caught dismissal after hitting the ball into the hands of Prabhudessai at the square leg region.
The elegant right-hander flicked a full ball from Siraj through the on-side, only to see the impressive Prabhudessai sprint around from the deep fine-leg region and take a fantastic catch.
Seeing the RCB fielder secure his eye-catching grab, Robin Uthappa started walking back to the shed. But then, to his and CSK’s great relief, the alarm set for the no-balls started buzzing at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
Robin Uthappa was deep into his walk back to the CSK dug out when the standing umpires asked him to return as the replay confirmed Siraj had overstepped the mark.
Batting on 81 off 46 balls at that point, the in-form got the reprieve that would’ve brought a wry smile on his face and annoyed the RCB camp a lot.

Desperately eyeing a breakthrough, the last thing RCB would’ve wanted is a wicket off a no-ball after their premier quick Siraj failed to keep his front foot inside the popping crease.

RCB soon had Robin Uthappa out caught for 88 off 50 balls but by then, the damage has been made. The CSK opener blasted the opposition bowling attack to push his team into the ascendancy. Uthappa turned the game around for CSK after they were precariously placed at 36/2 near the end of the 7th over.
The opening batter, an integral part of CSK’s plans, had not come to the party in his team’s first four matches, a major reason why the defending champions went through a four-game losing streak. CSK will hope for Uthappa to continue his newfound form for the rest of the tournament as they eye a timely revival in the league stage.
