India fast bowler Chetan Sakariya has expressed his desire to play under former national skipper MS Dhoni. The speedster came to the limelight after Rajasthan Royals (RR) shelled out INR 1.2 crores for him in the 2021 auction. The Royals entered into a bidding war with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) after which they secured his services.
Sakariya was among the top wicket-takers for RR and the pacer mentioned that the IPL stint changed his life. The seamer plied his trade under the leadership of Sanju Samson and talked about his dream of playing under Dhoni’s leadership.
Sakariya, who made debut for Team India back in July 2021, said that he would love to play for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the four-time champions in the IPL.

Over the years, the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav lauded the 40-year-old for advising them to the best of his abilities. Sakariya also said that it’s a bowler’s delight to play under Dhoni’s guidance.
“The last auction changed my life. My dream is to play under MS Dhoni. He has helped so many bowlers evolve. And to pick his brain, watch him prepare, can take my game to a different level,” Sakariya was quoted as saying in News Nine.
“Dhoni is any bowler’s dream and it will be surreal to play and learn under him. I would love to play under him if I get a chance. But of course, I will give my best in whichever team I go to,” he added.

Dhoni is one of the three players CSK retained ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, scheduled to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore. The two players are all-rounders Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja.
Sakariya also said that he wishes to don the national jersey at least for the 10 years. Moreover, he put forth his desires of playing Test cricket for Team India and be a dependable all-format bowler.
“I want to play for India for at least 10 years. I want to play Test cricket and pick wickets for India across formats. My ultimate dream is to be the lead bowler for India across formats,” Sakariya added.
