Defending champions Sydney Sixers will be taking on their longstanding rivals Melbourne Stars in the opening game of the latest edition of the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia on Sunday (December 4).
The two teams will open their respective campaigns at the iconic SCG in Sydney. The BBL will once again be played on home and away basis this summer as restrictions amid the Covid-19 pandemic begin to ease up.
The top 5 teams at the end of the league stage will be entering the playoffs, spread depending on their standing across the Eliminator, Qualifier, Knock-out, Challenger and the final, which will be held on January 28.

2. Josh Phillipe (9.5 credits) – Phillipe was outstanding for the Sixers last summer. The wicketkeeper-batter made a whopping 508 runs from his 16 innings at a strike-rate of 149.41. He was instrumental in Sixers going on to win the BBL title.
3. James Vince (9.5 credits) – Vince was the top run-getter for Sixers in the last edition of the BBL, making 537 runs at an average of 38.35 at a strike-rate of 143.58. His tally for the tournament featured four half-centuries.
1. Steve O’Keefe (8.5 credits) – experienced left-arm spinner O’Keefe was terrific with the ball for Sixers last summer. He took 15 wickets from his 15 outings for the Sixers while maintaining an exceptional economy rate of 6.93.
2. Nick Larkin (8.5 credits) – Larkin played his partly nicely for Stars in the previous edition of the BBL, scoring 276 runs from his 11 matches at a strike-rate of 126.60, including two half-centuries.
3. Daniel Hughes (8.5 credits) – Hughes was a quiet performer for Sixers in the last BBL, scoring 331 runs with a strike-rate of 131.34. His tally featured two half-centuries, including a top score of 96.
