Kandy Warriors currently find themselves on the foot of the table, and are struggling to make their presence felt. They have failed to get their combinations right, and as for the Colombo Stars despite a stunning effort from Dinesh Chandimal in the game against Giants, they fell short by 1 run. A win in the last league game will boost their confidence of getting a positive result on Wednesday afternoon.
Charith Asalanka, Ahmed Shehzad, Angelo Perera (c), Kamindu Mendis, Ravi Bopara, Tom Moores (wk), Minod Bhanuka, Nimesh Vimukthi, Sachindu Colombage, Shiraz Ahmed, Binura Fernando
Pathum Nissanka, Tom Banton, Ashan Priyanjan, Angelo Mathews (c), Dhananjaya de Silva, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Ravindu Fernando, Seekkuge Prasanna, Dushmantha Chameera, Naveen-ul-Haq, Ravi Rampaul
The weather conditions in Colombo have remained cloudy since the start of the tournament, and perhaps we are entering the phase where rains could start to eat up some overs, like it did on Wednesday evening. The temperatures will remain under 30 degrees, making it a pleasant environment for a game of cricket.
A new track was used in the last game for the Colombo Stars, who might once again be playing on the same pitch for this fixture. We can expect it to slow down a bit, but the team batting first must get in excess of 160 to stand a chance.
Colombo Stars have some players picking up form in the last few games, and it would be suggestible for fantasy managers to pick players from their units. The Kandy Warriors have some good contenders for multiplier roles, but it would be a bit of a gamble.
Seekkuge Prasanna: The Lankan all-rounder is in terrific form in the tournament and is a top choice for captaincy in small leagues. He has picked up 9 wickets with the ball, and can contribute with the bat as well.
Dinesh Chandimal: Under severe pressure against the Giants, Chandimal nearly drove the Stars to a win with his half-century. He can be a good option for captaincy in mega leagues.
Charith Asalanka: The Warriors are heavily dependent on Asalanka for their runs, and the 24-year-old thus far has registered 118 runs, making him a worthy contender for vice-captaincy.
Sachindu Colombage: The leg-break bowler from Negombo has picked up 5 wickets in 5 games, and has been one of Colombo’s most economic bowlers this season. He costs just 8.5 credits.
Naveen-ul-Haq: Having had a sensational campaign in the T20 Blast, Naveen-ul-Haq continued to impress in the leagues that followed, including a brilliant 3/27 against the Gladiators a couple of games ago. He costs 8.5 credits and is a major wicket-taking option.
Ahmed Shehzad: The Pakistani batter played just 2 games, and has already impressed by scoring 78 runs, including a fifty against the Gladiators. He costs 8.5 credits.
