It’s a clash between the table toppers and a team that has sprung a couple of surprises already. Australia is on a roll just as one would expect them to be on any given day and in any given tournament. They started off with a close win against England, then followed it up with a huge win against Pakistan, and then defeated the hosts New Zealand by a huge win after being in a position where the game could have gone either way.
Australia had Ellyse Perry rise up to the occasion and put up an absolute clinic at a venue where she has played domestic cricket in New Zealand. Then came the masterclass of the rising star Tahlia McGrath who scored a fifty as well. Ashleigh Gardner proved training is overrated as she came straight out of the MIQ to finish with 48 not out off just 18 balls. Gardner came in to bat in the 45th over and still managed 48 which created a massive momentum shift.
West Indies will have to regroup after their huge loss against India. They won their first two encounters but faced a reality check against the mighty Indians who got their campaign back on track.
