As the inaugural cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) nears its end, it is time to recall some of the best individual batting performances in the tournament history so far.

While majorly effected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the World Test Championship has still produced some enthralling cricket around the globe.

Top 10 Highest Scores In The World Test Championship

That, especially accentuated by the quality of batsmanship on show under tough circumstances and bowler-friendly conditions. It’s only fair, then, to reminisce those stand-out batting performances through the first cycle of the World Test Championship.

Below are the Top 10 highest scores during the inaugural World Test Championship so far.

Top 10 Highest Scores In The World Test Championship

1. Top 10 highest scores in WTC – David Warner 335* versus Pakistan

David Warner, the Australian opener, made a career highest 335 not out against Pakistan in the Adelaide Test of the 2019-20 home series.

It was a marathon effort as the explosive left-hander smashed away the hapless visiting attack for more than a day and a half.

Warner hadn’t been in the best of form coming into this innings, with his Ashes 2019 struggles being well-documented. But he once again proved what a force he is in home conditions.

2. Top 10 highest scores in WTC – Zak Crawley 267 versus Pakistan

Pakistan were at the receiving end of another giant knock when England’s Zak Crawley batted magnificently for his 267 against them in Southampton in 2020.

Crawley, a promising young right-hander, wasn’t even a year old into his Test career when he blazed his willow for a maiden double hundred.

3. Top 10 highest scores in WTC – Virat Kohli 254* versus South Africa

Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, was at his absolute best when he scored a memorable 254 not out against South Africa in the 2019 Pune Test.

It was Kohli’s seventh double hundred in Test cricket as he led his team from the front in an important World Test Championship fixture.

4. Top 10 highest scores in WTC – Kane Williamson 251* versus West Indies

Kane Williamson, the New Zealand skipper, played a marathon knock of 251 not out against the visiting West Indies side in the 2020 Hamilton Test.

It was another occasion of Williamson dominating a touring team bowling attack in home conditions as he played a major part in Black Caps’ huge win.

5. Top 10 highest scores in WTC – Mayank Agarwal 243 versus Bangladesh

Mayank Agarwal may have been out of the Indian Test side recently, but at the start of the World Test Championship, he was in imperious touch.

Agarwal dominated the visiting Bangladesh attack for his career-highest 243 in the Indore Test of the 2019-20 home season.

His knock helped India take another giant stride towards the final of the World Test Championship.

6. Top 10 highest scores in WTC – Kane Williamson 238 versus Pakistan

Kane Williamson added to his tally of big scores for the World Test Championship with an outstanding 238 versus Pakistan earlier in 2021.

The New Zealand captain’s knock allowed his team to gain crucial points in their last series of the cycle and ultimately helped his country reach the marquee final.

7. Top 10 highest scores in WTC – Joe Root 228 versus Sri Lanka

Joe Root, the England captain, was in stellar form at the start of England’s 2020-21 Test match winter as he conquered the Sri Lankan challenge with a superlative 228 in Galle.

Root didn’t look troubled at any stage of his knock and batted with great resolve and attitude against a three-pronged Sri Lankan spin attack.

8. Top 10 highest scores in WTC – Joe Root 218 versus India

Soon after feasting on the Sri Lankan spinners, Root also dominated the Indian tweakers through his knock of 218 in the first Test of the series in Chennai.

His great innings allowed England to post a gigantic total and ultimately helped them earn a rare Test victory on Indian shores.

9. Top 10 highest scores in WTC – Mayank Agarwal 215 versus South Africa

Marnus Labuschagne, the Australian batting sensation, put a cherry on the cake as far as his 2019-20 home season is concerned with one amazing knock of 215 in Sydney against New Zealand.

The visiting Kiwi attack had no answers for the elegant right-hander as he kept them on the park for more than a day, pushing Australia towards a much deserved 3-0 series whitewash.
