The 2nd game of the Women’s World Cup 2022 will be between Bangladesh and South Africa. This will the first-ever match for Bangladesh after they managed to go through to the main round based on the rankings after the Qualifiers were interrupted because of the Covid.
The young Nigar Sultana will be leading the side who was appointed as Bangladesh’s skipper last year. They will want the senior players to step up and deliver the goods. Bangladesh is a team that rotates a lot around the likes of Fargana Hoque, Rumana Ahmed, and Salma Khatun. Meanwhile, South Africa will be feeling scratchy after the two warm-up games. They lost both their warm-up games against India and then England. While they are coming on the back of a home series win against West Indies, these losses might send some early jitters.

With Dane van Niekerk ruled out, Sune Luus has been appointed as the new skipper. Their issues have risen considering that Lizelle Lee will be missing the opening encounter as she arrived late and will be in the MIQ. The team will now be majorly reliant on the likes of Luus, Marizanne Kapp, Laura Wolvaardt, and the pace-attack which will be spearheaded by Shabnim Ismail.

Tazmin Brits: Brits is most likely to open in the absence of Lee. Bangladesh’s pace attack is not strong and could use their spinners early and Brits can take a full toll of it.
Suraiya Azmin: If Bangladesh bowl first and make the first use of the fresh pitch, then Azmin could be a very unique option to bank upon.
