There may be talks of a rift between them outside but the relationship and bond that batting great Virat Kohli and his captaincy successor Rohit Sharma share only seems to be growing and peaking.
Another fine example of the same was on display on Day 2 of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali this Saturday (March 5), where Rohit made it a point to ensure Kohli got a guard of honour before taking the field for the Sri Lankan first-innings.
After receiving facilitation from the BCCI and Indian team management led by coach Rahul Dravid on Day 1 for the occasion of his 100th Test match on Friday, Kohli got a guard of honour from his teammates as he graced the field after the Indian innings was over.

Virat Kohli is playing his 100th Test match for India against Sri Lanka.
But it seemed as if it wasn’t entirely a team’s plan to give Virat Kohli the guard of honour but a brainchild of Rohit Sharma, who asked his longstanding teammate and former India skipper to return to the pavillion while the team prepared for what was to follow.
A clip of the same did the rounds on Twitter and went viral, in which it is clearly visible that Rohit asked Kohli to go back and make a re-entrance on the cricket field so that players have time to take their positions.

By the looks of things, Virat Kohli was initially hesitant about the idea and seems to have told Rohit Sharma to continue with the proceedings normally. But then, the newly appointed Test skipper requested his teammate to accept his proposal, to which Kohli agreed.
In another clip on Twitter, Kohli was seen showing a thumbs up towards Rohit and his teammates for their noble gesture in what will always be a special Test match for him.

The legendary right-hander entered his 100th Test with a proud record and while a hundred eluded him in the first innings, he did play his part by scoring a critical 45 and sharing an important 90-run stand for the third wicket with No.3 Hanuma Vihari.
