Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the new franchise in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL), faced flak on social media for certain reasons. On Tuesday, March 8, the new team put up a post on International Women’s Day. LSG wished the Indian Women’s team for the ongoing Women’s World Cup in New Zealand. But they used a picture, which was designed by another Twitter handle.
The Indian team, led by Mithali Raj, won their opening match on Sunday, March 6. The Women in Blue defeated Bismah Maroof’s Pakistan by 107 runs at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. The Women’s team is next set to face hosts New Zealand, led by Sophie Devine, on Thursday, March 10 at the Seddon Park in Hamilton and the players must be high on confidence.
Prior to the World Cup, India lost the ODI series against New Zealand 1-4. LSG, in the meantime, faced the wrath of social media for using some other profile’s post. The franchise was accused of not giving credits to the original creators.

The Super Giants is one of the two additional teams, along with the Gujarat Titans, to feature in the upcoming IPL season. The 2022 IPL edition will have 10 teams and will be played over a period of two months. The Super Giants, captained by KL Rahul, will first lock horns with the Titans on Monday, March 28 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Before the mega auction that took place on February 12 and 13, the Super Giants picked Rahul, Ravi Bishnoi and Marcus Stoinis. Rahul, who captained the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2020 and 2021 editions, was named as their skipper. Bishnoi was also there with Rahul in the Kings.
LSG picked the likes of Kyle Mayers, Evin Lewis, Manish Pandey and Deepak Hooda to strengthen their batting lineup. They also roped in former West Indies skipper Jason Holder, who had a decent campaign last time around for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
LSG also drafted in the likes of Mark Wood, Dushmantha Chameera, Avesh Khan and Ankit Rajpoot to bolster their bowling attack. Krunal Pandya, who spent quite a few seasons with the Mumbai Indians (MI), will now play for the Super Giants.
