Western Australia cricketer Hilton Cartwright pulled off arguably the toughest catch of the Australian summer 2021-22 in the Marsh Cup List A final on Friday (March 11). Playing against New South Wales in Melbourne, Cartwright turned the game on its head by completing a breathtaking catch near the ropes.
The Zimbabwe-born Australian cricket helped WA take the critical wicket of NSW allrounder Moises Henriques with an eye-catching dive at the edge of the long-on boundary where both his feet were up in the air.
In a fielding effort made for some of cricket’s richest photographs, Hilton Cartwright secured Henriques’ wicket by sprinting across from the wide long-on area and taking an absolute stunner with both his hands.

Hilton Cartwright’s excellent diving catch turned the March Cup final on its head.
The exceptional catch was on display in the closing stages of the Marsh Cup final in Victoria. Having set a target of only 226, WA found themselves desperate in search of wickets when NSW reached 206/7 at the end of the 44th over.
But the game turned at the start of the very next over when Hilton Cartwright completed one of the most sensational pieces of catching you will ever see.

The sight of a fielder securing his grab with both feet in the air has always been exhilarating and no wonder, the clip of Cartwright doing the same went viral on social media.
The pure game-influence of the catch only accentuated it in the public eye as Hilton Cartwright helped WA send an in-form Henriques back when he had threatened to take NSW to victory and lift the coveted List A trophy for the summer.
Henriques was batting on 44 off 73 at the time with another 22 runs needed off the last six overs. But his downfall triggered a mini-collapse for the NSW, who went from 206/7 to 207 all out in the space of two and a half overs.
Cartwright, who made only 6 runs in the first half, couldn’t come to the party with the bat but made an excellent fielding effort at an important point to tilt the scales in WA’s favour.
