Legendary Indian cricketer, MS Dhoni, on Wednesday, February 2, put forth the first look of his graphic novel, named Atharva: The Origin. Backed by Dhoni Entertainment, the novel is a sci-fi series and is based on writer Ramesh Thamilmani’s work.
In the first look of the trailer, the 40-year-old Dhoni can be seen fighting on a battlefield against the demon army. Dhoni was known to carry a charismatic personality on the field of cricket and his appearance in the graphic novel is no different.
Back in 2020, the graphic novel was announced and it was referred to “an adaptation of an unpublished book by debutant author”. Managing Director of Dhoni Entertainment, Sakshi Singh Dhoni, also MS Dhoni’s wife, had made some revelations on the novel.
“The book is a mythological sci-fi which explores the journey of a mysterious Aghori who has been captured at a high-tech facility. The secrets revealed by this Aghori could alter the myths of the ancient, beliefs of the existing and course of the forthcoming,” Sakshi was quoted as saying earlier.
“We would like to ensure that we execute all the aspects of this universe and bring out every character and story to the screen, with as much precision as possible. Web-series fit our purpose better than adapting it into a feature film,” she added.
MS Dhoni and his beloved wife had founded the media company, Dhoni Entertainment. Their maiden project was ‘Roar of the Lion’, a docu series released on Disney+ Hotstar in 2019.

Despite not playing enough cricket over the last two and half years, Dhoni remains a popular figure in the Indian cricket fraternity. He last donned the national jersey in India’s 2019 World Cup semi-final match against New Zealand at the Old Trafford in Manchester.
Back in August 2020, Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket. A few hours later, Suresh Raina, Dhoni’s teammate in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), also called it a day from the highest level. Both Raina and Dhoni have played for the four-time IPL champions since the inaugural edition back in 2008.
Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, CSK have retained Dhoni, Moeen Ali and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. It means that Raina is most likely to don a new jersey in the upcoming edition of the T20 league.
