Jason Holder created history by becoming just the fourth men’s bowler in T20I history to take a double hat-trick.
Curtis Campher of Ireland was the last to achieve the feat when he took four in four during the 2021 T20 World Cup game against Netherlands. Rashid Khan against Ireland in 2019 and Lasith Malinga against New Zealand in 2019 are the only other bowlers to achieve the rare feat.
Holder’s feat came in the final over of West Indies’ win over England in the fifth and final T20I of the series that the hosts won 3-2. With 20 runs needed to win off the last over, Holder sent back Chris Jordan with a slower full toss and followed it up with the wicket of Sam Billings with another slow ball.
He completed the hat-trick with the wicket of Adil Rashid and then went on to make it four in four when Saqib Mahmood inside edged one onto the stumps off the next ball.

Holder won the Player of the Match and Player of the Series as West Indies completed a 3-2 series win. He finished with a five-wicket haul in the series decider, becoming the fourth West Indian to achieve the feat in T20Is. No West Indian bowler has taken a hat-trick, though, before today in T20Is.
Holder finished the series with 15 wickets, the most by any bowler, averaging 9.60 with the ball. He had also taken a four-wicket haul in the first T20I that West Indies went on to win. The next best bowler in the series had a mere eight wickets, underlining how good Holder was in the series.
“There’s a lot of hard work. An area I need to improve is my death bowling and variations. I’m improving in the nets, and the captain has the confidence in me. That does a lot for my confidence. People are seeing what I can do an giving me the responsibility. I feel really good about my role, I’ll pass on the peripheral noise. Every time I step on the field it’s about what I can deliver for the team,” Holder said at the post-match presentation ceremony where he won the Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards.
