Arshdeep Singh had a brilliant outing in the IPL in the last two seasons and is continuing the promise he’s shown. The left-arm seamer has the knack of picking up crucial wickets with his change-ups, and he did so twice against the Rajasthan Royals today. After dismissing Evin Lewis with a smart setup, he then sent the dangerous Liam Livingstone back.
The Punjab Kings have struggled to make their mark in their first game after the resumption, pretty much giving away the momentum easily to the Rajasthan Royals. Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal had given them a solid start. Just when Livingstone was looking dangerous, Arshdeep got the better of him.
Livingstone absolutely smoked the ball towards midwicket but failed to clear the long boundary on the leg side. He was also at the receiving end of a stunning catch from Fabian Allen, who ran a few yards and picked up a blinder. Arshdeep was smashed for a huge six and a boundary previously in that over by the English cricketer, and it did agitate the bowler.

When Livingstone was finally dismissed, he gave the Lancashire man a bit of a send-off, showing him the way towards the pavilion. The onslaught continued later with Mahipal Lomror smashing the ball to all parts. But the Arshdeep send-off caught a lot of attention and is worthy of watching again.

Arshdeep has been in terrific form this season and his ability to mix up his pace and length has earned him plenty of plaudits. He first made an impression last, when he picked up 9 wickets in the limited opportunities he got. He delivered some top performances in UAE and continued the same at the start of this season.
He can concede runs on occasions, as he takes the risk of trying a lot of variations. But the consistency with which he has picked up wickets will make him fall in the radar for a national call-up, considering the fact that there aren’t many good left-arm seamers in the setup currently.
